It has a variety of short stories for spelling while listening. www.writingfun.com This site is for higher levels. It guides you through structuring your writing. It has lots of examples and various types of writing to choose from. Check it out!!!
I just found this site yesterday; it has some very resourceful material. This particular site has different modules that you can download FOR FREE!!! There are themes that probably would work for LINC such as health and safety, the law, housing, and on the job. I haven't looked closely enough to determine if the levels are suitable or if it is particular to the province of Manitoba (since it was put out by the Manitoba government) however, it may be worth a look.
This site has children's stories read by actors (sponsored by the Screen Actors Guild). A lot of the books are in the library, so you could get the book and read along with the actor. This may work for literacy, but I was thinking more of young families so that the children can hear the stories in English.
An ongoing collaboration between skilled and experienced ESL teachers, and great radio voices! This site publishes three "top-of-mind" news stories once a week (on Monday). The stories are chosen for their interest and importance to Albertans; they are local, provincial, national, and international news items from the week before accompanied by activities for language learners. Under ongoing revision and review. Appropriate for LINC 4 and up, but activities for less proficient language learners may be coming soon! ~A.W.
Activities designed specifically for LINC 3 and 4 on topics and themes from the curriculum guidelines and referenced to the CLBs! Some of these activities are repeated from Algonquin College's LINC Activities (2010). However, some are supplementary activities available online only! A little work to learn how to find the activities, but well worth the effort. ~A.W.
Seriously, they are trying to pass this off as a literacy resource, but it looks great for Canadian Content for LINC 1. Haven't tried it yet, just really really appreciate the way it looks. I wish they had more of the same on different themes! ~A.W.
